ABOUT
Diana is a photographer and digital artist based in Toronto, Canada. Raised in Uruguay and Brazil, she moved to Montreal to pursue her studies at McGill University, where she earned a Master of Arts in Hispanic Literature. Fluent in four languages, she later taught Spanish at both McGill University and Dawson College.
Her path eventually led her to photography, where she deepened her practice by obtaining a Certificate in Photography Studies from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). Guided by curiosity and a spirit of experimentation, Diana’s work explores image-making across mediums, including digital composition, selective animation, and crypto art.
Technology plays a central role in her artistic approach. Working primarily with digital photography, she transforms her images through manipulation and layering, extending them beyond documentation into more conceptual and narrative-driven pieces.
Alongside her creative practice, Diana is committed to supporting and empowering artistic communities. She is the co-founder of XenosProject, an NFT collection dedicated to supporting schools in underrepresented regions, using Web3 as a tool for positive social impact. She has also led art workshops for vulnerable immigrant communities and worked with seniors and participants in Adult Literacy programs.
Her experience extends into curation and exhibition. During the pandemic, she owned and operated a gallery in northern Canada (Rosseau, ON), showcasing both her work and that of local artists.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Intensely curious about the potential of the photographic medium, my work explores the possibilities of using the digital image as a form of artistic expression. I'm drawn to the abstract and lured by shapes, colour and light. As a photographer, I believe that my art needs to be open to the unpredictable and spontaneous. I like to explore, experiment and consolidate what I learn into my work.
While my portfolio includes traditional documentary and studio work, it also includes more modern approaches to image-making. I enjoy creating compilations in post-production and pushing the boundaries of traditional art. I've also explored the world of NFTs (non-fungible tokens) by developing art for the crypto art space. My photography travels down many different paths, just like my life.
